We are in the middle of a hurricane and discovered a huge leak in our wall that is seeping out from under our kitchen cabinet. The leak is coming from the outside of the house, that is a fact. Anyone have any suggestions for some temporary fixes. It is literally flooding my kitchen, As soon as I finish cleaning up, It is flooded again. Help ASAP. We can't get anyone to come out and fix it b/c everyone is closed b/c of the hurricane, as well as all the stores. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

  1. The water may be coming from water raising up to the floor level, then into the house.

Best to see if you can keep water away from that outside wall.

Maybe dig the dirt away to drain any standing water.

  2. well I'm guessing the storm is just about over by now. So about the only thing you can do is if you can go outside and see if you can see where the water is coming in at and try to patch til morning or the rain stops. good luck

  3. Your gutters are probably filling up and water is flowing up under your shingles, then down the wall cavity, and into the kitchen through a convenient hole (maybe around your sink supply pipes or an electrical junction box).  Go outside and see if your gutters are overflowing.  If they are, and it's safe, go clean them out, especially the downspouts.  Likely, you'll just have to keep collecting the water until the storm is over, however.

Whatever you do, DO NOT block the water!  Unless there's an obvious hole on the outside that is now under water due to a puddle against your exterior (if so, fix THAT hole).  If you simply block off the hole inside, the water will find its way somewhere else in your wall, and potentially ruin yet more drywall, cabinetry, electrical boxes, sills, etc.  And there will be more hidden wet wood on which mold can grow in months to come.  Water finds its way...don't try to stop it.

  4. Dig a trench for the water outside it will find another route to go to besides your house this should at least reduce the amount of water make it a priority to find out exactly where the leak is coming from

  5. uhm bubble gum, duct tape, crazy glue, put a bucket under the leak.

  6. Find out exactly where the water is coming in. Cover the outside wall with plastic. Duct Tape cracks, or use spray foam. Good luck. I hope Dolly is merciful!

    God Bless!

  7. Do you have any plastic sheets to cover the outside wall.Is your roof still intact since that may be where the leak is comming from(cover it).

  8. nail a piece of plywood , or anything , over the joint outside, if it's safe to go out side
