hi, i am married to an albanian and we are travelling to spain shortly, he needs a schengen visa to travel to EU countries and the spanish embassy have been very unhelpful and we can not get an appointment in time. we spoke to a friend who suggested to visit another embassy in an EU country, so we have applied at the belgium embassy and can collect a schengen visa in 48 hours, however i am very concerned that we will not be able to travel to spain with this??? as maybe they will only allow travel to belgium? please help. thank you.

  1. Maybe you should have thought about this a few weeks ago.

If your travel is because of a family issue - like bereavement - then it is possible to get seen more quickly.

Otherwise, you are stuck. Plan ahead next time.

  2. # a schengen # visa allows you to visit all the countries in the schengen visa zone, which spain is included in it:

your port of entry must be in Belgium not Spain, be sure of that , otherwise you will be rejected before taking off with the airlines,

do not try to enter Spain first,  they that would NOT let you board anyway? your return must be done in belgium also , as to not get refused the next time, an entry to Belgium.

go to Belgium and then travel to Spain..

the euro trail is good , i have suggested it another question of yours . but not for Belgium only i hope?

ps: do not enter trough Spain first............

  3. A Schengen visa is good for 90 days for all the EU countries, including Spain.

  4. A schengen visa from one country will give you the right to travel to any of the other member states.

As some countries give a visa specifically for their country even if they are Eu member states, make sure thet the Belgiums are giving you a normal schengen visa.

The norm is that you get a schengen visa from the first country of entry.

What happens when you get a visa from Belgium but enter Spain first? Well nothing really. If you can enter belgium first then go to Spain then you are clear, if you enter Spain directly, just prove to the officer that your intention was to travel to Belgium then something hapened and you decied to travel to Spain directly.

  5. Some embassies take longer to issue visas than others, and you are required to apply for the Schenden visa from the embassy of the country of destination. The only way you will be able to get a Schengen from the Belgian embassy is if you can show them that you are going to Belgium.

Once you HAVE the visa, though, you can travel to any of the Schengen states on it. In the past, I have used an independent agent (who only end up costing about £25 more) and the agent has got the visa on my behalf from the quickest embassy. What they might need to do in order to get it quickly is to book train/plane tickets in your name to that country which they will thn cancel after the visa is issued.

  6. would it not be best to contact the embassy? as they would be able to tell you for sure!
