MLM = multilevel marketing

i joined it with my friends a few months back considering there was no interest involved and the products sold were worth the money..so it was completely halal.

but i dont know why am not comfortable doing it..

we have a millionaire associate coming on 10th . if i take my guests to the convention , its most likely that they would get pursuaded.. should i take them there ?

one can make lots and lots of money here and give it to charity..but..

i still feel somethings wrong .

pls help. am supposed to give a presentation tonight .

  1. Dear Smiles,

I lost $7,000 on an MLM that fell through and was investigated by the Florida Attorney General Office.  My experience with 'legitimate' MLM's?  It hasn't been good, either, although a friend of mine thrived on Nikken magnetic products, back when magnetic mattresses and health products were hard to find (they aren't any more). But this friend was an insurance salesman so it was up his alley, and he had lots of business connections. He was also a bit of a scheister.

If you're talking about people borrowing money from their parents?  Then it must involve a lot of upfront money.  That's not good.  Pyramid schemes only serve the people at the very top. Lower down they get too diluted (same as our social security system).

Since you're someone with a conscience (unlike my salesman friend), I'd say STAY AWAY FROM MLMS.  Even if you personally make money on an MLM you're going to feel really bad if your friends don't--and some if not most of them won't.

Not only that but the 'sales pushing' never ends--you always have to be out there recruiting people, and that's not a fun way to live life.

  2. sis, i've been heavily involved in MLM in the past. My expierence is, that it will cost you and the people you involve in it a lot of time and money and you get almost nothing in return.

Only the 'top people' who got in early, make mega bugs out of it, cause basically they earn on what you make and on the people you bring in.

In one of the MLM businesses i was pretty successful, cause i got in at an early stage. I did stop the business though, cause i started to feel very uncomfortable with the idea that i had people join, who in their turn had people join etc who paid a lot of money (some could not afford really and like with you, borrowed to 'get in') and whom i  knew would probably never make a decent living out of it, while i got paid from what they invested more or less.

So my consience told me it was not really right, like you have now i guess, and i just stopped and handed over 'my line' to my manager, so i would not get any income out if it anymore either.

I was so relieved after that, cause it had given me some sleepless nights.  I'm not sure if there is an official Islamic standpoint on this.... but you have the same 'bad gut feeling' that i got, because you doubt if it is really ethical. So my advice is, when your gut tells you it is bad, get out. I did and i did not regret for one moment!

  3. its useless....

    dump it...its bigtime scam

they make big promises & show lot of money & enthusiasm........believe me , u ll be crying

(they make such drama ,as organising huge parties, big presentations, events etc.... just to fool simpletons)

even biggest company AMWAY, makes big promises & scams ppl into it

it has nothing to do with religion......just get out of it...its a big scam

  4. Always go with your "Gut" feeling.

If you beleive you will not do well in that business, get out now before you spend too much money.

There are many reputable MLM companies, just look for the one you feel you can doo well at.

  5. Sounds like you have sinned. :D
