Urijah Faber wins as Brian Bowles submits at UFC 139 – MMA News
The HP Pavilion on Saturday November 19, 2011 was the venue where the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) held its UFC 139 event. One of the fights on the main card for the night was the Bantamweight bout. The fight featured Urijah
Christopher Faber, nicknamed The California Kid and Brian David Bowles.
For Bowles, the 31-year old American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, this was his first UFC fight since UFC 132 in July 2011. He defeated Japan’s MMA fighter Takeya Mizugaki but on Saturday in San Jose, California, he could not
go past Urijah Faber. The American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Faber won the fight over his compatriot fighter, Bowles after he locked him in his submission move in a minute and twenty-seven seconds in the second round.
As the fight began, both fighters jumped on each other to give each a blow with their punches. Faber took down Bowles with a huge slam on the mat and kept his offensive strategy going on. The first round could not determine who
had the upper hand as both fighters were thrashing each other with sheer strength. Their equally matches power was right on the spot. Faber gave some serious punches to Faber that kept him wobbly on the mat. Faber’s punches made the crow erupt in a state of
excitement, as they knew a major fight is happening in front of their eyes.
Bowles suffered badly in the first round. He could not defend himself as Faber’s punches were relentlessly coming in from all directions. He was not missing any opportunity to use his gloves on Bowles’ face. On the other hand,
Bowles was not getting any time to start his counter attack, preoccupied in defending himself. He did fight back with his punches but Faber was in a good position every time to defend himself.
As the fight entered the second round, Faber was successful in grappling Bowles and taking him down. He then unleashed his left and right punches on Bowles to take an advantage into the fight. Bowles tried to use his submission
moves but Faber was quick in getting out of his locks and took the vertical base. Throughout the fight, Bowles did not have any reply to Faber’s strikes.
In the second minute of the second round, Faber was successful in implementing his guillotine choke submission manoeuvre on Bowles. The former Bantamweight Champion, Bowles was forced to tap out, giving the victory to Faber.
