Question:

Urinary Tract Infection or What?

So... TMI, but you clicked on it, lol.

I thought I had a UTI starting a week ago. My lower back was hurting and I had to pee a lot for me (I usually go every four hours or so, and now I am going every two hours on the dot--and it's driving me CRAZY).

However, I never really had the same feeling that I normally have with a UTI (ex. excessive pain when I pee, peeing every ten minutes). I was uncomfortable peeing a few times this week.

I was wondering if you guys think it is a UTI? Also, I drank a little bit or cranberry juice and 8 cups of water a day. The only symptom I have left is the frequent urination.

Could I have cured it by drinking water? Am I cured since I have a symptom? Did I ever have it at all since it wasn't the same as any I have ever felt before?

Lastly, sigh... is it *possible* [in your experience] that I could be pregnant (i.e. this wasn't a UTI).

Any advice, suggestions, etc... ???

  1. UTI: possible. get tested and go on antibiotics. DO finish the prescriotion or it willl come back.

    Preganncy= buy the OTC test.

    UTI does not equal preganancy

  2. it may you should go to Dr and have a UA so you can be sure and get the antibiotics

  3. You might have an STD

  4. If you've missed your period and had un protected s*x about amonth ago, then sounds like you are pregnant. But a HPT and take it.

  5. You might have a bladder infection.

  6. Please read.  You are very informed.  I think it is still a UTI, and recurrent, as you did not take an antibiotic, though you must not overuse them, as they can produce hyper infection, and colon problems as well.  Keep clean, front to back, use liners and change frequently, stay with the cranberry juice and water, and not so rough (tell your partner) in your intimate contact while this thing is bothering you.

  7. It could be just a UTI, it could be pregnancy, or it could even be both. Pregnant women are prone to UTI's and often times they show none of the classic symptoms such as pain or burning when urinating. I had reoccuring UTI's throughout my whole pregnancy and I never had any pain. They were found by chance through routine urine analysis. I'd first go to the doc and get tested for a UTI and then take an at-home pregnancy test.

  8. You really need to go see a doctor regarding this. Once you get an infection, you need antibiotics to get rid of the infection if there is one. Cranberry juice just helps keep your urinary tract clean but does not rid the infection....only medicine can do that. When you go see the doctor....ask for a pregnancy test too.

  9. It definitely sounds like you had a UTI.  Drinking more water could have fixed the problem by flushing out your bladder.  You still may be pregnant but that's not a normal symptom of pregnancy.  IMO it does seem more like a uti than you being pregnant.

  10. Just to be on the safe side you may want to take a pregnancy test.

You could just be peeing a lot due to the increase in fluids that you've been drinking.  The only safe way to know what's going on is to visit your doctor--possibly the gyno would be better!

  11. drinking plenty of water can stop and flush out a uti

  12. I had a UTI AND found out I was pregnant.  Funny, the first thought I had was that I was pregnant not that I had a UTI.

  13. frequent urination can be a number of signs. For pregnancy, just take a test.

If you're having pain when you pee, then you may have a UTI. You can purchase little home kits from the drug store and check for it

  14. I have da same problem and it may not be a UTI but a blater infestion so all you can really do is go to the doctor to be on the safe side

  15. You could be pregnant if you have had unprotected s*x as frequent urination is a sign of pregnancy.

UTI in pregnancy is way common.  I had continual UTIs with my first baby.  No antibiotics worked.  So, I went on a cranberry suppliment.  I took it every day and the UTI went away.  Now every time I have been pregnant I take cranberry suppliments...never had another UTI with pregnancy.

  16. i agree it is a possibility if you have had s*x, take a test.  thats all you can do.  and UTI's are very common in pregnancy.  so just take a test and that should tell you if it is neg. wait a week or so and try again if the symptoms havent gone away.  good luck

  17. get your answer here

  18. You can take over the counter Pyridium for a Uti. Also you might have a double whammy pregnancy and a Uti. Good luck

  19. You could be pregnant... That is common to have those symptoms... Good luck..

  20. If I were you I'd go to the doctor.  Maybe it is a UTI.  Usually they don't go away w/o an antibiotic.  I did have to pee a lot when I was newly pregnant, but I never had lower back pain.  Lower back pain can mean kidney infection which can make you very sick.

  21. It can be a sign of pregnancy as I've experienced it, tho u may have had cystitis also. UTI's should be treated with antibiotics so a trip to the docs would be the best thing to check all possibilities.

  22. You could be pregnant. Or it could even be UTI which was cured with water.

  23. well when i had a uti. i didnt even kno i had no signs (pain, burning frequent pee or nothing) soo i had no idea till i went for a check up ....

BUT before i found out i was pregnant i was pee'in more often then usual

  24. indeed.

If you are not experiencing pain or discomfort when you pee, it is likely not a UTI.  Likely, but not improbable.  Don't quote me, I am not a doctor.

If you are concerned that you may be pregnant, ask yourself the next few questions.

    When was your last period?

    Are you late?

    Are your b*****s tender?

Any discomfort or "difference" in the behavior of your female organs?  (like mild cramping?)

if it does not clear itself in the next few days, definitely see a doctor and get a definitive answer.

  25. You really should see a doctor. You can know for sure if you're pregnant or not, and you could find out exactly what it is if anything.

It could be anything...an STD, a cyst on an ovary...the list goes on and on. Don't take any chances with your health, and also then you will have peace of mind just knowing.

    Best Wishes

  26. if you could go to a doctor go for that...but it doesn't really sound to me like a uti if that was all that happened:/

    I hope you get better!!

  27. The best and only way to handle this is to go get a check.

Water is not simply going to cure an infection. Yes cranberry juice and water are excellent to flush the system.

If this is an infection and you let it go too long you could end up with a kidney infection and become hospitalized.

  28. My dear... "Pretty Birds"....

Well... my darling... I empathize with you a great deal & I would suggest, you do make an appointment at your GYN  -s o o n - , so you can get checked. The possibility of a pregnancy can NOIT be "excluded"... so are a "variety" of "other" medical aspects... - so - PLEASE go to your doctor quickly, so you'll know FOR SURE !!!

I wish you all the best for the future ! Greetings from Germany.. Annette***

  29. I have often had the feelings of  UTI and immediately started drinking water and it went away...then of course, you will pee more often because of the water for a while.  Just see what happens after a few days..cut back on the water...also..take a pregnancy test if possible so you'll feel better.

  30. You can buy a home UTI test from any pharmacy

try the test strip and if its POSITIVE for nitrates then you need antibiotics so see your doc ASAP.

I tried to get rid of one on my own last year and no luck - I kept thinking it was gone and it would come back (b/c it never went away)

Preg. is a possibility if you did the deed w/o protection around 2 weeks from your period but frequent urination isn't *usually* the 1st preg. symptom.  1st symptoms are usually

    1.  a feeling that your period is coming

    2. sore b*****s

    3.  tiredness

Or you could have no symptoms.

Go to CVS, buy a preg test and the test strips for UTI

    Good luck

  31. Urinary Tract Infection well maybe i have one and i felt back pain and i do pee a lot but thought nothing of it. My back really hurts lower and this is the second time i have had it well it probl neevr went away the first time. I would get checked out you dont want kidney problems
