  1. Your urine is supposed to contain creatinine, as it is a waste product. It is not supposed to contain protein. Phosphate, sulphate and chloride are also excreted. Your urinalysis is entriely normal.

  2. Hi, I'll try to give you a little run down of what everything you listed means...

Protein - Generally healthy people pass very small amounts or no protein in the urine. High amounts of protein in the urine can suggest damage to filter mechanism of the kidney (the glomeruli) or inflammation of the kidney. It could also suggest bleeding from any part of the kidney or urinary pathway. Your result of having no protein in your urine suggests you have no problems there.

Creatinine - This is a break down product of creatine phosphate in muscle. Now this value varies from person to person and if you have high muscle mass due to something like body building you would have a much higher then normal result. However it can also be a sign of renal disease. If your doctor thought this was very high without reason he would book you in for more tests and monitor your serum creatinine levels over time as this would give a much more accurate picture.

The normal values of Phosphate, sulphate, and chloride all suggest no problems there.

Overall it seems you have nothing to worry about and your results fall within those expected of a healthy person.

In the future though you shouldn't worry about asking your doctor to explain things. You'll find many doctors love getting into the technical stuff with you.

  3. They seem ok to me.

Creatinine is a waste product produced by the muscles. The creatinine clearance rate is a measure of how the kidneys filter creatinine and, therefore, is an important indicator of kidney function. It is a useful way of monitoring kidney disease. The creatinine level is worked out by measuring the amount of creatinine in the blood. Higher than normal levels suggest that the kidneys are not removing creatinine efficiently and indicate the kidney function may be inadequate. High creatinine levels may indicate body muscle damage (producing excessive creatinine) or kidney damage (from poor kidney excretion of creatinine).

The presence of high creatinine levels together with high protein levels in the urine, may indicate certain forms of kidney disease. phosphate, sulphate, chloride in normal levels, that's ok. You shouldn't be worrying. They're relatively normal. Oh! And don't forget to ask your doc for explanation. It's their job after all.
