Urszula Radwanska to make her maiden appearance in the Brisbane International in 2013 – Tennis News
World number 31, Urszula Radwanska, has signed up for the next edition of the Brisbane International 2013. After registering a terrific breakthrough season, that forced her in the Top-30 players, of the world before forcing her
to drop a couple of ranks below her career high of 29 towards the end of the season. She clasped 51 victories and fell victim to 31 losses in the entire season of 2012. It is an impressive record considering that she is just a young talent aging 21-year-old
and has a lot of time to improve.
She has never played at the Brisbane International in her entire career and it will be her first appearance at the season-opening event. It is always important for any individual because it's the one thing that stays in the memory
for the years to come. She started her season at the Apia Sydney International this year and cleared the qualifying stage successfully but lost to her elder sister, Agnieszka Radwanska, who is ranked number four in the world.
Radwanska was given the direct entry in the year’s first Grand Slam tournament, the Australian Open. She defeated a qualifier in the opening round before stooping to the Romanian star, Sorana Cirstea, in the second round. A similar
performance was witnessed in the PTT Pattaya Open as well, as she survived merely one round. Despite of a commanding play in the qualifiers of the Qatar Ladies Open, she failed to handle the onslaught of the left-handed Czech Lucie Safarova.
The breakthrough event for the Pole superstar was the Brussels Open where she reached the quarter-final stage having entered in the qualifying round draw. The good work was carried into the grass court season where the 21-year-old
Pole reached her first final of the Women Tennis Association Championship during the UNICEF Open. She cleared the qualifying stage and dispatched a seeded player before stooping to the Russian former world number three, Nadia Petrova, in the final. She reached
the third round at Cincinnati; the semi-final of the Tashkent Open at Guangzhou International Women’s Open was another cracking run for the Pole who ended the year on the high note.
