Uruguay were to face their toughest opponents in the second round of the group stages. Chile, who won their first match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mexico-c2956, were prepared to face one of the tournament’s favourites.
The Uruguayan manager Oscar Tabarez played his favourite 4-3-3 formation. With three outstanding strikers Luis Suarez, Diego Forlan and Edinson Cavani in the Uruguayan starting line-up, they were the favourites to win the match. However, Chile were relying
on Udinese’s man of the season – Alexis Sanchez.

and Lugano.
One holding midfielder assisted the team by playing between the midfield and the defence line. While Perez helped the team in the centre, Pereira often
made a move forward to help the team in attack.

by Cavani and Suarez. While the Liverpool man Suarez featured on the right wing, Cavani played on the left.
On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chile-c2871 played a 3-4-3 line-up just like they played in the first game. With three centre backs, two holding midfielders were played who were assisted by two attacking midfielders. Furthermore, there were three strikers to help the team
in goal scoring.
Bravo featured as the first choice goalkeeper. He was assisted by three defenders. The right centre back was Contreras while the left centre back was Jara. The centre back role was given to Ponce.
These defenders were aided by two holding midfielders. Medel and Fernandez played in the holding midfield position and they aided two attacking midfielders.
The right attacking midfielder was Isla while the left attacking midfielder was Vidal.
The three strikers for Chile included Sanchez on the right wing while Beausejour played on the left wing. Sanchez’s role was more of a central winger. He often made a run deep into the centre forward position where Suazo played his role as a sole striker.

the ball inside the penalty area; however, he couldn’t control his volley and shot the ball wide off the target.
Chileans then found their footings on the ground and finally created their first chance of the game. It was the Udinese star Alexis Sanchez who linked up perfectly with the centre forward Suazo. Suazo gave a cut back pass towards the on-rushing Vidal. However,
Vidal couldn’t control his shot and smashed the ball over the bar.
Luis Suarez created an outstanding opportunity during the 27th minute. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 man swung the ball in towards Diego Forlan; however, the FIFA World Cup 2010’s golden ball winner couldn’t really head the ball towards the goal despite being
free at the other end of the cross.
The best chance of the game fell for Chileans who were trying to open up the Uruguayan defence. Coates tried to clear the ball but Isla received it in a dangerous position and shot it towards the goal.
Isla’s shot on goal managed to hit the cross bar only.
The first half ended in a goalless draw. Both the teams played well but Uruguayans were dominant in the midfield. Chile played outstanding counter attacking football. The man to watch for Chile was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Edinson-Cavani-c11955 was the
best player for the Uruguayans.
