Uruguay vs. Peru – Full Time Report – Copa America 2011
With the first half ending 1-1 for both the teams, the second half was much crucial – as a single goal could cause havoc for the other team. Uruguayans found a late equalizer in the first half and they were still the favourites to score the winner; especially
with their start strikers Diego Forlan, Luis Suarez and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Edinson-Cavani-c11955.
Despite these outstanding names in the Uruguayan team, Peru were really getting the best out of them. Peru, who are considered to be the underdogs of their group, were giving the Uruguayan defence a really tough time.
Before the Copa http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peru-c2981 were trying to exploit the gaps in the three man midfield which was not really combining well together.
Peru were playing outstanding passing football and counter attacked perfectly as the Uruguayans were simply left vulnerable on the break. It was hard for the Uruguayan defenders to get the best out of the Peru strikers who were not only quick but also very
skilful.
The first http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luis-Advincula-c22646 being released. The Peru man beautifully
played a one-two with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Muslera-c13690 was on his toes and blocked the shot from going in.
The next real attack came during the 69th minute of the game and it saw one of the most experienced Uruguayan strikers, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-c11058 Forlan, missing an open goal scoring chance. The Atletico Madrid star received a perfect through ball from Luis Suarez
after they both managed to get involved in a perfect one-two.
After an outstanding build-up by both the players, Diego Forlan simply couldn’t finish the ball into the net. It was simply a dreadful finish by the Uruguayan http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Captain-c8314 who simply didn’t seem to look the same as he once was in the FIFA World Cup 2010. Forlan
has not been consistent in his club Atletico Madrid and he showed the same trait while playing for his national team.
Another great opportunity fell Peru’s way as the match continued being equal for both the sides – equal in terms of possession, goal scoring, opportunities, etc.
It was Guerrero who created a wonderful opportunity during the 72nd minute of the game. The Peru star managed to set up Vargas with a beautiful through ball. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Juan-Manuel-Vargas-c19785 had plenty of space to find the back of the net but his powerful low
strike couldn’t find the back of the net. It seemed as if Peru could have scored another stunner but the shot was wide off the target.
The very next minute, Cruzado had a chance to score but even his shot only found Muslera’s save hands as he did not make a mistake while collecting the powerful shot aimed at the goal.
The last action was when Peru were on the break and almost scored the winner during the 89th minute. It was yet again Guerrero who caused trouble to the Uruguayan back four.
Guerrero received a wonderful cross into the danger zone and he simply dived in to head the ball towards the goal. Despite a tremendous effort to find the back of the net, his shot drifted off the target. It was an outstanding opportunity for Peru to win
the game but it ended 1-1 for both the teams.
Another favourite side, Uruguay, have been held up by the underdogs. Firstly, the Argentineans drew their game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Venezuela-c3039; and now the Uruguayans, the third favourite side to win the Copa America
2011, has drawn the game against Peru in a well contested match.
