Uruguayan wing-back Alvaro Pereira could leave FC Porto for Chelsea, agent hints
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 defender has so far been linked to Chelsea and Paris-Saint Germain, but
neither side have made a concrete offer for the Uruguayan international.
New Chelsea boss and former FC Porto manager Andre Villas-Boas is aware of the player’s abilities and is willing to pay as much as £17.5million for his services. Along with the English Premier League giants, the Ligue 1 outfit, PSG have also shown interest
in the wing-back. Pereira’s agent confirmed that despite the interest there had been no offers for his client.
Pereira’s agent, Alejandro Savich, revealed the player had a release clause of £26 million and would only be leaving the Portuguese outfit if it was met. So far Chelsea’s offer has fallen short of the expected £26 million, but Villas-Boas will most likely
return with an improved offer since he eyes Pereira as a likely replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yuri-Zhirkov-c37683, who recently left the Blues for Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala.
Savich said while speaking to reporters:
“Until now there has been no contact with us.
In fact, I can say more. This time, we have no offers from any club for Alvaro Pereira.
I can only speak about the present and the truth is that there are no official offers.
But the market only closes on August 31 and, until August 31, anything can happen.”
The player’s agent maintained that anything was possible until the transfer window closed down, which would be at the end of August. This gives all the clubs concerned plenty of time to decide whether or not they want to meet Pereira’s release clause. The
wing-back is contracted to FC Porto until 2015 and will only be allowed to leave if the right price is offered for his signature.
He continued:
“He is aware that he has a contract until 2015 and that for now is focused on FC Porto, but also knows that things change quickly and that any time something could happen.
If a club can pay the clause of 30million euros? Then we'll see.”
Pereira’s agent confirmed that the defender c*m midfielder would be training with FC Porto, and was still a Porto player until further notice. Pereira has recently returned from international duty with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 trophy,

Savich added:
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álvaro-Pereira-c5297 will start training on Wednesday with FC Porto.”
Pereira joined FC Porto in the summer of 2009 for a fee of €4.5 million from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/CFR-Cluj-c38778 on a long-term contract. He had made a total of 49 appearances in the domestic league and has found the back of the net once.
