Uruguayans ONLY???

hola a todos!!!....im Uruguayan but i lived in the USA pratically my whole life. I want to find out who my ancestors/descent are..Where can i call or find out about this information???

Yo soy uruguaya de Uruguay, es decir uruguaya viviendo en Uruguay. No es mucha la gente en Uruguay que tenga ascendencia indígena como te respondieron arriba. No es imposible, porque hay un cierto porcentaje de personas que descienden de los charrúas, bohanes, guenoas, yaros, etc... Pero la gran mayoría de los uruguayos descendemos de inmigrantes. En tu caso me atrevería a afirmar (por tu apellido) que has de tener en parte sangre italiana.

Pero me imagino que lo que deseas saber es sobre tus ascendencia más directa aquí, en Uruguay (abuelos, bisabuelos) ¿no es así? Bueno, te hago una recomendación: realiza esta misma pregunta en la categoría  "Latin America > Uruguay" pero en yahoo en español. Y propociona los datos que tengas, que es posible que encuentres mucha gente dispuesta a ayudarte.

Uruguayans are of mixed ancestry many of them have Native American and European indigenous ancestry.

The best way to find out is to build your ancestor's tree and go as back as much as you possibly can.

The normal is to go back around 10 generations from mom and dad

Also you can do a genotype test (genotype not phenotype) and see.

Try ancestry.com. That is how I found out about my ancestors from England.

They will ask you some questions to get you started. Or go to a local library and ask about their genealogy classes or seminars. They usually have something of this sort.
