It takes 4 to 6 months from the time they receive it.  First, they will send you a packet of information and things to do.  You'll need to do everything, get your physical exam, and send it all back.

I think it's really different for every embassies in different countries as well as depend on how much cases they're currently handling.

I got my interview set up about 2 weeks after. First, they will notify you that the case is there and either you will get send a package of all the paper works you need to fill out and instructions on medical examination or they'll simply give you a call to come and pick up those forms. Then after you completed all the forms and had your medical exams done (the appointed doctors usually send the result directly to the embassy) they can set up an interview date for you.
