The army left the McKee Barracks in Crailsheim sometime in the mid-nineties, I think.

No, the base closed in 1994. All the buildings have been torn down and is a residential area now. The barracks on the other side of the road are still there, but they have been renovated and sold as condos (bought one...sold it...moved out of Crailsheim). The barracks where the main base was are also there and being renovated and sold as condos as well.
