how private is the us postal service with packages?

do they open up the packages to check what is in them?

please answer.

  1. only if there is a reason to inspect them, that they think you are sending something that is against the regulations... no guns, no illegal drugs, no live animals etc.


  2. I work in the U.S.P.S. The only time we open a package is leaking or a powder is or other unidentified substance is coming out of the box There is a very strict order of events that must happen before the box is open ,first a hazmat team examines the box and than the inspection service is called than it may be opened ,at that point you may be contacted and if you did not identify the contents when the clerk at the window asked if there was anything Liquid' Perishable' or fragile in the box and you said no ,you could have a personal visit from a postal inspector and maybe fined ,they have no sense of humer Remember don't lie
