Usain Bolt, World’s fastest man keen to know about training techniques of Indian hockey players
International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) and Athletics Federation of India (AFI) have sent a number of imperative faxes to the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Hockey India (HI), in which they made requests to both the bodies, SAI and
HI, to give them access to their training techniques.
It happened after a report was published in one of the popular newspapers in which it was stated that Indian hockey players are experts in the short-sprint and they managed to cover 10 metres distance in a very quick time of 1.57 seconds, which is far ahead
from the existing world record of 1.89 seconds set by Usain Bolt.
“I have not been able to recapture my much-vaunted running form since my return from injury. Perhaps, these magicians with the hockey sticks know something that I don’t. I would love to learn from them,” Usain Bolt, the World’s Fastest Man stated in his
correspondence.
The World Number One Champion sprinter, Usain Bolt, has also showed his interest to know about the diet intakes of Indian hockey players.
Lalit K. Bhanot, the secretary of AFI also shared his views by stating that if HI and AFI joined each other to work together, then they would be able to produce world class hockey players, as well as top quality athletes of international level, achieving
two objectives in one go.
“It is no surprise to me that our hockey players are such good sprinters. They always manage to get to the opposition’s goal-mouth without much trouble. They lack conversion skills. This explains everything. Our hockey players are in the wrong sport,” KPS
Gill, the President of the Indian Hockey Federation which has been stopped from working, also stated his views.
Meanwhile, former Indian hockey captain Pargat Singh, the Chairman of Hockey India, said that he will be on a hunger strike if the Indian hockey team would not succeed to qualify for the Olympics Games which will be held in London, England, in 2012.
He also told that in the current set-up it seems very difficult that the Indian hockey team will qualify for the Olympics, but at the same time he looks hopeful to some extent that it will happen.
