Usain Bolt all set to emerge at the DN Galan meet – Samsung Diamond League: Athletics news
Usain Bolt, the fastest athlete of the world from Jamaica, who could not prevail at the last two contests at the DN Galan Meeting, has resolved to conquer the track this season in the 200m run. The DN Galan competition, which is the 11th stop
of the 2011 Samsung Diamond League series, is going to kick-off in Stockholm.
Dwelling on to the reasons of his past two defeats on the track in 100m contests, Bolt said that it was only because of him making a slow start. Expressing his determination to overcome this technical glitch this time, the world triple record holder said,
“For me it is always like that when I get a bad start but now I’m more focused about the problem.”
Addressing a press conference a day before the contest, Bolt claimed that he was in the right form and was enjoying a perfect shape that was conducive for embarking upon the stadium record, which stands at 19.77 seconds. The feat is presently held by American
sprinter, Michael Johnson. Thought the target seems quite possible as Bolt has already clocked below the given time on eleven occasions, the real challenge will be to face the mounting pressure caused by the expectations which athletics fans have from the
24-year-old sprinter.
Bolt, undisputedly acknowledged as the most formidable sprinter of the world, is not only eying the title at Stockholm, but he also wishes to be known as a true legend of the sport. To achieve the task, it is imperative for him to not leave a battle like
the DN Galan unconquered. For already marking a victory in Monaco, Bolt certainly has a plan that may help him in emerging as a victor in Stockholm.
Talking about the form he enjoyed in Monaco and the way he perceives the display of his performance at the global athletics event, the young Jamaican said, “It was a good race, I learned a lot. I came through it, so I’m happy. Technically everything is coming
together and I’m getting there fast but I need to work on my start. Everything now is about the gold medals. If I’m going to be a legend in the sport, I have to win in Daegu.”
In the upcoming contest, Bolt is expected to have a confrontation with his countryman, Nickel Ashmeade and Alonso Edward from Panama. However, disregarding the expectations of any challenge from both of these performers, the reigning world champion instead
preferred commenting on the track, which, to him, was a little tighter, but still he was ready to tackle that amicably.
Interestingly, if Bolt succeeds in taking over the stadium record in Stockholm, besides the title, he will also bag the promised diamond prize of the event.
