Usain Bolt back in training ahead of next season
World and Olympic champion Usain Bolt has returned to training after cutting his disappointing 2010 season short in August.
Bolt, who suffered his first 100m defeat in two years when Tyson g*y outran him at the Diamond League Meeting in Stockholm on 6 August, announced the end to his competitive season four days later, when
a doctor found a strain on his lower back and advised him not to compete further in 2010.
Earlier in the season, Bolt had been plagued by an injury to his Achilles tendon.
"The good news is that I am 100% healthy and am completely over my back and Achilles tendon problems," Bolt said on Tuesday, 26 October.
The Jamaican has held the 100 and 200m world records since 2008, and improved both at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin.
"I am really enjoying training at the moment," Bolt continued, who has confessed to having a lazy personality on several occasions. "For the first time in my career I was looking forward to getting back
into training before my end-of-season break was over."
To defend 100 and 200m titles in Korea
The 24-year-old was the first to break Michael Johnson's 200m record from the 1996 Olympics, and has previously said his long-term goal is to defend his double World and Olympic titles.
Bolt, who also won the 4x100m relay in Beijing and in Berlin, said he is now looking ahead to the World Championships next year.
"I am looking forward to defending my 100 and 200 metres titles at the 2011 IAAF World Championships in Korea. I know the importance of putting in the work required."
As an avid follower of Manchester United in the Premier League, the charismatic sprinter added that he is glad Wayne Rooney has chosen to sign a new five-year deal with the team.
"People know that I am a big Manchester United fan and I am delighted that [Rooney] has decided to stay [with the team]."
