Usain Bolt fit to appear at the Samsung Diamond League Meeting in Rome - Athletics news
With the Samsung Diamond League meeting in Rome just over a week away, three-time Olympic and world champion, Usain Bolt, has assured his participation in the event. According to official sources of the Jamaican management, the athlete is fit and ready to
challenge his rivals in the big event.
Responding to queries about his health in context of his repeated visits to German doctor, Hans Muller –Wohlfahrt, who had been treating the sprinter due to his scoliosis conditions, Bolt’s official quote claimed that he was fit and ready to start the season.
Talking about his illness, Bolt, the world record holder in 100m and 200m distances said, “It’s (scoliosis) not as serious as it sounds but, for me, as a track athlete, it can be serious. I work really hard to keep it away but, of course, it’s still there.”
Appearing on the Rome track on next Thursday, May 26, Bolt is expected to open his season with a 100m run at the Golden Gala meeting, which is regarded as a part of the Samsung Diamond League series. Among rivals from whom he can expect tough competition,
the Jamaican will have a challenging tussle with world record holder, Asafa Powell and Christophe Lemaitre, the triple European champion from France.
Speaking in context of the upcoming event and briefly telling about his health conditions, Bolt said, “I am fine, I feel good and I just went there (Germany) for my regular check-up. Yes, I know that people have been questioning if I am ok, or when I am
going to run, and so on, but so far everything is fine and I will be opening my season at the end of the month, as was originally planned.”
Admitting the presence of a set-back, Bolt said that it was very much there, but now he was looking forward to run his first race at Rome. For taking part in the first event of this season, the world record holder certainly was a bit nervous, but displaying
his ever dominating confidence, the sprinter said that he was going to compete in it to get the ball rolling.
