  1. The IOC needs to worry about its drug testing program it is woefully insufficient.

Mr. Rogge should concern himself with Belgium's performance or lack there of in this olympic games.

  2. LOL... How is it insulting to thump you chest before you cross the finish line?

That is not showing your competitors how badly you can beat them... Crossing the line half a second ahead of them in a 10 second race is showing them how badlly you can beat them!

They figured out how badly they were getting beaten when all they could say 10 metres ahead of them was a singlet with the word Jamaica on the back!

d**n... they were so far behind him that they wouldn't be able to see him thumping his chest!

Jeez what next... maybe he should be told not to win by so much!

Politically correct garbage... I say rub it in! Half the game in these sprints is how you psych your opponents out before the race... and you KNOW that everyone from those races is going to be terrified of him next time! Bolt would have been a fool to pass up that chance!

Lastly, did you see any of the other runners looking offended? I didn't! I saw guys hug him and pat him on the back and say some pretty amazing things about him in the media.

Rogge has stuck a Belgian foot in his big mouth and this is a non event!

  3. Who just said "Bolt is acting as is normal for his culture"?  Does that mean he talks loud in movie theatres too?  Come on, that's ridiculous.  Please show some class.

  4. Let him do what he wants. He earned the right to boast. I think he should be allowed to show off and act however he wants.  He can even rub it in their faces if he wants to, it's a free world. The Olympics isn't a competition of manners. It's a competition of abilities.  s***w sportsmanship, winning is all that matters.

  5. i agree with you but its all about sportsmanship especially when its on the biggest stage in the world.

  6. big up big. d**n right. bolt can celebrate anyway d**n why he wants to

  7. after the race, celebrating is fine. his behavior in some of the events before it is over to show competitors just how badly he is beating them is poor sportsmanship

  8. Personally, I didn't see many of the other runners in any other events congratulate anyone except their teammates.

  9. I agree.

I attribute it to cultural differences.  The Olympics are a celebration of skill and the dignity of men (and women).  Different cultures celebrate different ways.

In this case, Bolt is acting as is normal for his culture.  Jacques is from a more "refined" culture- by which I mean "stuffy".

  10. Yes! I support President Rogge on this issue (yes on others he may show the corruptness of the IOC).

This is not in line with the Olympic movement nor the Olympic spirit that all athletes agree to when entering the Olympics.

His arrogance and disrespecting his fellow athletes are not what a model Olympian displays. As far as other athletes agreeing stating that he's got the right to dance, etc....take a look at who you're referring to, they aren't model athletes either and behave poorly before and after races as well.

It's not consistant with the Olympic Creed, motto, or Spirit.

    The Olympic Creed:

The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.

The Olympic motto is "Citius, Altius, Fortius." These three Latin words mean "Swifter, Higher, Stronger."

To describe the goals of great athletes all over the World.

The Olympic spirit's mission is "to build a peaceful and better world in the Olympic Spirit which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play - Olympic Spirit strives to inspire and motivate the youth of the world to be the best they can be through educational and entertaining interactive challenges. Olympic Spirit seeks to instill and develop the values and ideals of Olympism in those who visit and to promote tolerance and understanding in these increasingly troubled time in which we live, to make our world a more peaceful place."

The world is truly impressed with Usain's talent and accomplishment, but certainly not with his behavior. Humility is certainly not one of his better qualities.

He was simply behaving like a child so Rogge chided him like a child.

    Enjoy!

  11. he can do whatever he wants. just dont violate my or anyone's rights..

  12. USAIN BOLT IS AWESOME! he is the only reason i watch the track events, because he's so entertaining. h**l, if i ran 200 meters in 19.3 seconds, id be celebrating too, wouldn't you?

  13. I agree. But man, could you imagine what he could have done if he'd run the race all out?

  14. He can do as he pleases as far as I am concerned. He has worked extremely hard to get to where he is, and has earned the right to enjoy himself. Who knows who will win in 2012, it's four years away! He may not win any more Olympic medals, so enjoy it while it lasts :)

  15. I agree!  Let him have fun.  He's young and excited about what he has accomplished.

  16. Boltfoonery

what will be funny is if he gets injured before he can do better

when he could have set a 100m. WR and OR at the Olympics that wouldn't be broken for decades

what a dope. amazing speed mixed with incredible immaturity.

  17. I Agree. Rogge is just being a jerk, spineless who can criticize an athlete who is just celebrating but couldn't tackle more important issues about the Olympics.

  18. I don't understand where Rogge was coming from. Let Bolt dance, celebrate do backflips if he wants to. He was beating because he know he's good, everything not done there way is too much. Jamaicans know how to celebrate and i can't wait til we win the 4x100. GO JAMAICA!!!!!!!!

  19. I think the other athletes respect Bolt just as he respect them... if you just broke 2 World Records in the most renowned events at the Olympics in front of a huge audience you'd naturally be overcome with joy and excitement

  20. I suprise when Chines IOC offer him a happy birth day song
