He is actually smart. He still has the 200 meters still to be run. So that's why he shut it off in the 100 meters. Otherwise he would have set even 9.4 seconds.

Jamaica is not a very wealthy country, so probably not much, unless his sponsors put a prize for him to 1, get the gold, and 2, break the world record. whatever he got you have to admit it was an impressive run.
