Usain Bolt set to claim the Belgacom Memorial Van Damme title - Samsung Diamond League second final
Usain Bolt, the 25-year-old Jamaican runner, will be among the most cherished athletes in the second final of the Samsung Diamond League to be held in Brussels, Belgium. While appearing at the Belgacom Memorial Van Damme – Samsung Diamond League contest,
the formidable athlete will try to make up for his disqualification in the World Athletics Championships in a 100m competition.
Moreover, he will also try to reclaim the world’s fastest athlete of the year title, which is still possessed by his countryman, Asafa Powell, who clocked an emphatic 9.78 seconds finish.
While addressing a press conference in Brussels, the world title holder over the distance of 200m, who had been in Zagreb for the IAAF World Challenge, said, “I’m really looking forward to this. I really want this world year best and I feel good. I think
I have it in me to run the fastest time of the year. The track in Brussels is simply excellent. It is always nice to be at the Memorial. There is always a great atmosphere and the fans are brilliant, and loud. That gives me a great deal of energy.”
While running in Zagreb, just two days ahead of the Samsung Diamond League competition, Bolt Clocked an impressive 9.85 seconds finish, which was the fastest time he could clock this season over the distance. However, while commenting about it, he said that
he was not happy about the race as he could not mark a quick start for that. However, the event still proved to be lucky for him, as he managed to finish the race on top of the podium.
Talking about the fact that whether the ‘start’ of his races had been making him nervous, Bolt said, “Whether I’m more nervous at the start now? Not really, but it does linger on in my mind a bit. As a professional, I have to learn to deal with such matters.
There’s always room for improvement. For example, the first 30 to 40 metres in the 100m race. By continuing to work hard, I think that I can ran faster still.”
However, how Bolt will be able to control this linger thought in his mind in Brussels is yet to be seen at the upcoming event.
