Usain Bolt to run the DN Galan Meeting: Samsung Diamond League – Athletics news
Usain Bolt, the formidable Jamaican sprinter, who is a three-time World and Olympic champion, confirmed his participation in the DNG Galan Meeting which is to commence in Stockholm, Sweden, on July 29.
The event, usually known as DN Galan, which is the 11th leg of this year’s Samsung Diamond League, will kick-off at the historical 1912 Olympic stadium. According to news, Bolt will aim at hitting the line in a 200m contest.
Bolt is a World and Olympic record holder in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relays. The Sherwood Content born 24-year-old sprinter currently holds all three titles of the above mentioned competitions.
Bolt, who was primarily a 100m sprinter, first emerged in the 200m contest back in 2002, where his quick strides earned him a gold medal at the World Junior Championships. The unexpected stunning win made Bolt appear as the youngest gold medal winner in
an international event ever. Building on with his dominance, two years down the line, he prevailed as the victor of the CARIFTA Games for hitting the finishing line under 20 seconds for a 200m contest. He made the clock stop in 19.93 seconds.
The results produced by him in the event not only placed him on top of the podium, but he also outdid the previous track record of Lorenzo Daniel with a difference of about a tenth of a second. Same year, while appearing at the 2004 Summer Olympics, he turned
into a professional athlete. However, he got some sever injuries which hampered him from appearing in the next two seasons.
The track in Sweden has proved to be rather unlucky for the sprint star, as last year he had to bag a defeat in a 100m contest in the Swedish capital. Another looming threat the stellar performer is expected to face is from arch rival, Tyson g*y, who has
not only announced his participation in the run, but has also said, “I will be back – and I will not lose.”
All is left to see whether Bolt is able to perform well regardless of his previous loss on the same track. Given his past record, it is obvious that the athlete has the certain ability to outperform his rivals despite the odds.
