  1. More fuel. This is related to the increased drag on the pully system as the compressor to the AC comes on.

  2. THATS KIND OF A NOBRAINER,TELL YOU WHAT,,FILL IT UP AND RUN IT FOR THE ENTIRE TANK OF GAS WITHOUT THE A/C,THEN FILL IT BACK AND RUN IT THE SAME WAY,BUT WITH THE A/C,THEN CK THE MILEAGE BOTH WAYS.BET THE FIRST ONE WINS.

  3. it takes more fuel to run ac , because it is running off of the motor.

  4. Fan speed really doesn't matter. It's having the AC on that affects the gas mileage, especially on around town driving. On the highway it really doesn't matter.

  5. Very little to do with speed of blower! -- Runing airconditioner at any speed uses a little more gas, -- but are you willing to "roast" for maybe 2 mpg?

  6. more load on the engine the more fuel you use.

  7. The show MythBusters did this exact experiment and it showed no difference in fuel usage with or without the a/c on.

  8. I read in a car magazine that using the AC burns less fuel than driving with the windows down because of aerodynamic drag, but that turning it off with your windows up saves fuel.

I don't know for a fact that it's true, but it makes sense to me.

  9. You will get better mpg in summer with a/c on than you will in winter. Stay cool, its almost free

  10. I was reading that leaving your A/C on while driving consumes more gas for the reason is that you are making your engine work harder to keep you cool. On the other hand during the winter if you turn on your heater it uses less gas for the fact that you are drawing heat away from the engine, which keeps it cooler. A cooler running engine always uses less gas.

  11. fan speed makes no difference.

run it on high when you get cool, switch the AC off and use the recirculate function.

if you don't have that switch to vent until you get warm then turn the AC back on
