1. Okay, cot is multiplicative inverse of tan, so

    I think tan(x)= 3, so x=inverse tan(3) = 71.565

    degrees approximately.

  2. Hi,

      Answer: 71.565 degrees.

    How to do it:

You don't have cot on a calc, but if cot =1/3; then tan =3/1.

So, using your calculator, find tan^(-1) (3). That is the angle whose tangent is 3.

The exact steps depends on the calculator. For a TI-84 or TI-83 Plus, do the following:

    a) Press 2ND, TAN

    b) Enter 3 and press ENTER. The degrees or radians will be displayed depending on how to have the MODE set.

You can change between radians and degrees by pressing MODE, moving the cursor to degrees or radians as you choose; press ENTER; then press 2ND, QUIT.

For a Casio fx-300MS, do the following:

    1) Press MODE until you get D R G with numbers under them displayed.

    2) Press the number for degrees, D, or radians, R, as you choose.

    3) press SHIFT, tan, 3 =. The value will be displayed.

    Hope this helps.
