  1. Wash yourself: as little as one pail (12oz).

Using the car wash: tonnes of water!!!

  2. Car wash (commercial) are required to recycle the water right at the store.

So they use much less water.

    Good Luck...

P.S.  150 gallon?  What a load of BS.  The car wash company would go broke at that rate.  They recycle that water.

  3. Many automated car washes actually recycle the water here in the US.  When water was in short supply a couple of years ago the city was urging you to utilize the car washes to save water.  If you were inclined to do it yourself they recommended environmentally friendly soap and park the car on the lawn so the run off would help the grass grow.

  4. Since my water use at home is restricted now, I use a commercial car wash, but only the brushless, pressure washer type or a hand wash facility, where the water is recycled.

  5. I am not an expert but I would say wash it yourself because you can do a quick soak of the car turn off the water then soap up the car when your done soaping the car turn the water back on to rinse. This way has got to use less water. One trip through an automatic car wash uses 150 gallons of water...Hope I have the best answer...Here's a report on the water usage of car washes...http://www.cuwcc.org/vehicle_washing/Car...

And also commercial car washes do recycle some of the water but all are not required to and also there is need for consideration of the evaporation that happens throughout the process.

  6. Wash it yourself. Better job and less chance of damage to your car.
