Generally apostophe s ('s) for living thing. For example

My friend's name is Rabi.

But for non living object it can not be used. For example

My village's name is Fatepur. _____ It is grammatically wrong. IS IT?

The correct sentence is : - The name of my village is Fatepur.

Please response if I am wrong.

  1. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I think it depends more on the rhythm of the phrase.

    What about earth's surface?

    At water's edge?

    The clock's face?

    Day's end?

    The chair's legs?

    Society's rules?

But you are certainly right about the name of the village.
