I have a Echostar DSB 808 2ci viaccess satellite box in cyprus currently tuned to Nilesat with a 1.6 metres dish.

Is it possible to use this set up to obtain other programmes such as BBC prime via other satellites and how would I do it- do I have to realigne the dish, buy some kind of smartcard etc?

Thanks

JR

  1. You can receive other programmes on a number of satellites; free -to-air(FTA), and broadcasters using the Viaccess system. If you have a CAM slot in your box, you can buy other encryption cards( there are many systems in use). You also need a smart card slot for pay-to-view services. BBC Prime is widely available, but by subscription to various packages. BBC World is usually FTA.  Aligning your dish manually is difficult. You have other options; get motorised, or extra LNB's. I suggest you consult a local installer to discuss this.Really, it depends on what you are prepared to spend.
