Use of banned stuff: League suspends Baltimore Ravens CB Asa Jackson for 4 games – NFL News
The National Football League (NFL) has suspended Baltimore Ravens rookie cornerback Asa Jackson over violation of its anti-doping rules.
Some sections of media have cited unconfirmed league’s sources making this disclosure but did not divulge on the use of material by the player. It is expected that more information surfaces around the entire issue in a couple of days, as the details at the
time of filing this report were very sketchy.
No one from the team or player’s agent has said a word about the latest development. They also have not denied or accepted the reports, which almost all sources confirmed to be true.
According to one of such reports, the player will serve a four-game ban without pay, which will cost him a total of little over $90,000. The player himself has failed to come out with a clarification of the development.
It is a rather serious blow to the player’s career, as after being left inactive for ten consecutive games since start of the season, the Baltimore Ravens allowed him a place in special teams in last three consecutive ties. The rookie had been alright with
his performance.
With his suspension starting from next game, he is set to miss three straight games and if the Ravens are through to the playoffs phase he will sit out first game of the second round. Although it is not clear if the player has taken drug while being not
aware it is on the league’s banned stuff, it is nevertheless a serious blow to his career progression.
Meanwhile, his absence has created a space on the active roster, which, according to some team circles, Ray Lewis is going to fill. Lewis is returning from a torn triceps injury this week for the first time since Oct. 14. He was designated to return on the
injured reserve list and is gearing up to join the squad starting from next week.
