Use of nested groups in Contacts?

Can I use nested groups in my Contacts? Apparently not. For example, if I create a group called "Family 1" which contains email addresses for Family 1 and then create another group called "Family 2" which likewise contains email addresses for Family 2, can I then create a group called "Relatives" which contains both of these groups?

If you are talking about email, you can create whatever "contact groups" you wish.  The number allowed might differ according to the email server that you use.
