Question:

Use physical address/mailing address for package delivery?

We just moved to a place which uses both physical/mailing addresses. I've never used both before, but do a lot of online shopping. Which do you use for packages? I've been using my mailing address for all other purposes. I feel ridiculous asking this question, but I want to make sure it's done correctly. TIA!

  1. Use the physical address if UPS, DHL, Fedex are delivering the package. Use mailing address if USPO delivering via mailbox.

  2. When ordering online I always specify physical address delivery.  This insures that packages will come to your house rather than to your mailing address where you would have to carry them out to your car and bring them home yourself.  If I can catch the delivery drivers when they come to the house I ask them if they would please bring the packages inside the house which eliminates carrying them yourself.  I have never been refused.  Packages delivered to your physical address that are delivered by USPS will be taken to your house also and I have been extended the same courtesy of bringing the package into the house by the mail carrier. This surely is much better than you having to do all that work yourself.

  3. By mailing address, do you mean a post office box?

If you are in the US, only the Postal Service can deliver to PO boxes.

All other packages must be sent to a physical address.
