Some folks in the microbrewing beer business need your help! Some are looking for viable ideas for used beer bottles. One has been approached by people who make concrete into "sparkling" concrete, and now we need new ideas.

Now it's your turn: do you have a good idea for used and broken beer bottles - except for glass recycling in general?

  1. What about making vases or bowls or glasses? once they are cleaned, of course.

  2. I recently read about sea glass on the web. They are actuall beer bottles that were thrown into the sea years ago. After many many years of moulding from the currents and tides, the glass take on a beautiful matt hue and loses its sharp edge. It's become something like a hobby to collect it. There are the rare ones (orange / red) and common ones like green and white. They can fetch quite a price among collectors nowadays! I guess the next challenge is for the beer business people to churn out more interesting coloured bottles and dispose it conscientiously.

  3. Making beautful lamps/lanterns out of it.

  4. When I was just out of high school and getting ready to go off to college I worked at a factor that did molding operations for press rolls.  They had a machine that crushed regular glass bottles (beer, soda, juice, etc.) into fine particles.  This was then sent through something like a sandblaster to clean off any debris or remaining plastics from the previous runs on the molds.

After a few uses this became a very fine grit.  It was then sold to a company that added that into paint.

  5. With glass cutting tools they can be turned into smoking bottles for incense and if they are plain they can be painted and turned into vases or trimming the bottle neck off they can be turned into drinking glasses.

  6. If the bottles are unbroken sterilize them and reuse them BUD, Coors, and the other big boys do!

Broken smash them to really little pieces and use in making glass tile,

if the neck is broken but the body is whole then set them mouth to mouth in concrete fence like stacking firewood. It makes a wonderful wall.

  7. build a house.

  8. how about crack glass in cement  for the base of

a house  keep  termites out  from  the foundation,, even Field mice

  9. target practice for bb guns or use the bottle necks for playing slide guitar

  10. Broken and tumbled glass makes a great landscaping product to put down for walkways/paths.
