  1. Symbolic interaction says that we learn aspects of behavior through our observations of others in addition to our direct interaction.  It would be argued that homosexuality has become more "en vogue" because of positive media representations of homosexuals or other observed interactions that cause us to see homosexuality as acceptable and preferred behavior.  I presume the ultimate argument would be that some people act homosexual while not actually being so because of these observed interactions and social acceptance to being homosexual.  That is really an odd way to use symbolic interaction theory...
