Dravid didn't walk in after nicking the ball and Mahela asked for review and it said that he nicked the ball. Many users tarnished Symonds reputation by calling him cheater.Gavaskar even questioned Michael Clarke's character that how he stood shamelessly after nicking the ball. Now can Gavaskar calls Dravid shameless ? certainly not. This proves that Symonds is right in saying that when umpire didn't gave him out why he should walk ?

  1. Dravid is still one of my favs.

Good question,as long as it don't happen to us we are quick to judge others and blind to our own faults.People shouldn't have called Symonds a cheat especially former cricket players.

Yes,even I am an advocate of walking if you've nicked it but its the right of the batsman to stay till the umpire makes a decision.

  2. It is up to the umpire to give a player out. Why should a player walk because he has nicked it? He may not know if it has carried or not.

And yes, it is a bit too faced if people have been slating Symonds and Clarke for not walking, but Dravid hasn't walked but that is OK in their eyes.

Either everyone walks, or no one does.

  3. of course. if he is a sportsman he would walk. dravid thinks he is sachin..he is not.

  4. Initially I was surprised that Rahul stayed his ground but then I felt that this is a good tactic to waste the review of the opposition team.

So, u can say this as a part of the game. He was just being clever enough to let go one review of Sri Lanka.

Also, given the situation India were in, it would have been stupid if he would have walked off.

  5. Wat a point mate !!!!!! INCREDIBLE..  Teach these indian cricket fans a lesson.... These fans they are so biased to this Indian team,,, No surpise this when senior Icons like sunny behave in that manner.

Sunny was absolutly acting like a stupid in australia. We know wat happened when he was out LBW.

I strongly oppose him critisizing Clarke.. He is a gentleman and a leader far better than any indian captain and of course better than sunny.

And coming back to Sachin and Dravid.... Vow didnt they look stupid... Comes to show how they have been making their runs all this time........... Hmm

And also Kumble who goes for stupid reviewss hehehe..

just goes to say wat a bunch of losers Indian team and bcci are

  6. To give out or not out is the responsibility of the umpire and to accept it graciously is expected of the player but no where it is said that the player should help the umpire by declaring himself out even when he himself is not sure about ( in the heat of the game).

Should we expect a bowler to call a "no ball" on himself when he is pouring his heat out to deliver a ball at the highest speed that he can? Or a batsman declare himself run our when he desperately trying to reach the other side of the pitch?

There is so much going on including the deaning noise on the ground that I would not expect a player to walk out voluntarily in such situation. I find no fault with Symonds, Clarke or Dravid for not walking out.

  7. Mate, you are exactly right. Its your choice not to walk, these guys are profesinal athletes playing for big dollars and you take the good with the bad, guarunted for every good call you get, youll get 2 bad ones.

I dont know how anyone can judge someones charater for not walking, the umpires word is law and you go with it.

Dravid is one of my all time favs and this changes nothing for me.

  8. I hereby withdraw the power to walk. I advise all players to stick to the crease till umpire gives his verdict. I also urge all Indian cricketers to stay till BCCI asks them to go.

  9. It's all very well to criticize Symonds and Clarke, but when it comes to their own team they suddenly turn blind.Sachin has always stood there till the umpire decides what's what, so why not others?

  10. I didn't watch the match................

I was at school when this happened................

The umpire's decison is final..................I don't think I criticised either of them.............I never called them a cheater and nor will I.....................

and Dravid is one of the best ever(and best ever according to me) cricketer............awesome gentleman, humanbeing...........

so if he didn't walk I am defintitely sure abt the fact that

he must have felt that he didn't nick the ball......... coz if heknew abt it he would have walked straight off...........

thats all , I have nothing more to say

    I am sad..lol. :(

  11. Haven't seen it but double standards is nothing unusual in cricket or this forum.

Exactly - why should a batsman walk when Dravid appeals ... and ditto if Symonds appeals.  Dravid has several such incidents against his name and Ganguly (the loudest whinger of the lot) has been caught blatantly claiming bump ball catches twice and being clean bowled and standing his ground once as well!

EDIT: Let's make this clear though.  My only problem is when a player labels another player a 'cheat' for not walking and then fails to walk themselves.

  12. this is a part of game

  13. Yup you are absolutely right....

Gavaskar is nothing but a big mouth...He knows how to speak about other cricketers(From other countries)...It's too bad...He speaks as though he was very very infact d**n loyal and always listened to the umpires and always took the right decision...Huh

Gavaskar is nothing but a big mouth..He nor any of us should criticize Clarke and Symonds...If we do so then we should think about the Dravid incident too...

  14. 100% true man.

even with the review system dravid didnt walk.

hats of to you mate good point.

  15. I totally understand what you are saying and I agree ...

What has really surprised me is the attitude of the team. I could not have imagined senior players like Dravid and Tendulkar, did not walk even when they that they had nicked the ball and Mahela has gone for the review ...

This is something, I for one, did not associated with Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar (even after the final decision Tendulkar left the field shaking his head ???)
