Question:

Using 110v 50Hz tools in Canada?

I have UK 110v power tools which normally run off a 50Hz supply from a 240-110v transformer. Would these work using a Canada 120v receptacle, or would the frequency difference be a problem? I'm talking mostly drills and saws.

  1. It should be ok to try them. The Hz difference will probably just make them run 20% faster.

If they're variable speed tools, and they say on them 50Hz only, you may damage them. If it says 50/60Hz it will definitely be ok.

    Good luck.
