Using Computer with big screen tv?

I've hooked my computer to my 42" plasma to use as a dvd player since my old stand alone dvd player died. The movies are fine but for everyday computer use it seems to give me a headache and my games and programs dont look as good. Any software out there to make better use of a "10 foot GUI"?

  1. You need a better cable.  I'm guessing your connecting using an S-video or component video cable.  S-video is capable of displaying 480p max and component is only capable of displaying 480i.  Basically that means that with S-video you can get dvd quality, and with component you can only get standard tv quality.

Your computer games are designed for HD quality.  The only cables that can display that on your tv are composite video cables, hdmi, and dvi.  You need to check if you computer has a hdmi or dvi out.  If it does, then you should be able to connect one of those cables to your tv for improved resolution.  You can't use composite, because computers don't have composite outs.  You may need to buy a hdmi to dvi cable.
