Using Flash Outdoors

Question

Someone on the *beginners* digital camera list I'm on said she watched a digital camera how to show that stated the following: "NEVER use flash indoors and ALWAYS use flash outdoors". You read that right :o Sounds screwy to me but I decided to test it as my daughter was leaving for a wedding (she was the pianist). It was sunny and bright and about 2pm. I was stunned at how sharp and crisp the picture turned out. Maybe she's right???? Or does anyone think she looks washed out? Has anyone else heard this theory? Personally I'll continue to use flash indoors and only outdoors when I think it's needed.
