  1. size mismatch ,

  2. It could be that you're putting them in wrong, or if you have sensitive ears, that could be the problem too. I can't wear earplugs anymore because they gave me constant ear infections because they would push everything way down in my ears and never give my ears a chance to drain. I use noise cancelling headphones instead now. And if you have small canals, then they'll hurt after about 20 minutes or so and hurt when you pull them out because the earplugs are pushing against the canal and the canal doesn't want to be moved.

  3. I have the same problem.  Do you have allergies or any sort of chronic sinus problems?  What happens is while you're sleeping your sinuses continue to produce mucous, which changes the air pressure from your soft palette, up through your sinuses, to your ears.  When you try to take the soft plugs out, it creates a vacuum that pulls on your ear drum, causing intense pain.  Does this sound familiar?  If not I'm wrong about what's causing it, but oh well.  If it does sound familiar, try pushing down on the plugs long ways, just enough to create air flow between the plug and your ear drum before you pull them out.  That will break the vacuum and you shouldn't have any pain.  I hope that works for you.  Good Luck =)

  4. You could be putting them in wrong, or they may be too big for you.

However, if your wearing them correctly they shouldn't hurt.
