I shall be going on cruise. Using ships computers is expensive. Would like to use my N73 mobile to send and receive emails. Cruise goes to Majorca, Gibralter and transatlantic to West Indies. Would it work?

  1. Some ships now offer a mobile 'phone relay service via satellite. Unless your ship has it, you'll be out of range of service providers over the trans-Atlantic leg, at least.

  2. you will but that too is pretty expensive. over the atlantic there wont be any reception, but you can pick up the ships sattalite on your phone and use that, only if youre on contract though,it will not work on p.a.y.g. weve just come back off our cruise and  i checked out the cyber study on the oceana. it wasnt that bad a price to use there computers it was£7.50 for about a hour and forty minutes, and you dont have to use it all in one go.

  3. Hi Sandra

The bolt answer is yes you can use it in those countries but before you do, there are a few things you should check first..

Does your cellphone provider cover those areas (If you are with Vodaphone, O2, Orange - then yes you have coverage)

What are the charges for using GPRS / 3G internationally

It maybe more convenient to use your cellphone but will the costs be lower.. all depends how often you will use your phone for mail.

    Hope that helps
