Using Scientific Calculator cos theta?

Hi there, I have Cos x Theta = 1.414 But I cannot figure out how to work this out on my calculator? What buttons do I press lol

  1. on most calculators it's (2nd function key) (cos key) 1.414 (equals key). This gives you theta.


  2. first the equation (as i think i understand it) cos(Θ) =1.414 has no meaning. That is it cannot be answered. For all possible angles Θ the maximum value of cos is 1.

    that being said if the problem was cos(Θ) =0.7071 your Calculator should have a button with cos -1 (it is probably also the cos button but to access it you have to use the 2nd function button)

    so should be something like:

    1) type 0.7071

    2) Press 2nd button

    3) press cos / cos -1 button

    *****

    Note: if you try this with 1.414 the calculator will return an error message because it cannot be answered.
