Using Sparklers.....How Can I Make A Good Rocket...That Works??

i'm bored and have tried several ideas which just caught fire at lift off

  1. no is the answer i am afraid

    you need something which will produce a lot of gas, at high pressure, not just a stream of sparks.

    remember that the differnce between explosion and propulsion is the rate of change. Propellant burns relatively slowly, so you need the stuff from the rockets, not the sparklers (which are mostly iron filings)or bangers. It should be possible to buy propellant powder, its used to reload ammunition by keen shooters. But are you sure you are ready for that level of risk, its going to require great care.

    Maybe you want to stick to the Mintos powered type


  2. burn rate ?

    when I unwrapped a solid rocket engine and lit it, it took off in every which direction and i think it only burned in one direction because it burned fast and hot.

    so...you are...s.o.l.

  3. Fire crackers at the local shop amalgamated with a lot of suff put along with a directional stick and put into a cocola bottte

    light it and experiment on improvements.
