Question:

Using a bug/roach bomb, any advice?

I recently moved because our apartment was invested with roaches. Other renters complained of the same thing, so we decided to move to a new location completely.

Unfortunately, some of the roaches came with us (hidden in our boxes, computers, printers, etc) so naturally, we are disappointed.

We have the "Raid Max-Concentrated Deep Reach Fogger" and we plan on using two of those suckers in our one bedroom apartment.

My question is:

-Do these roach foggers work?

-If so, how do I use it effectively?

Our apartment is electric only, no gas.

I've read the instructions, and it states that I must unplug my refrigerator. Is this necessary?

If anyone has used one of these before, I would really love some advice or tips on how to get the most out of our bombing efforts!

Thanks in advance,

  1. there are better ways to fight the roaches than a fogger....the insecticide of the fogger is just basically a contact kill so it will only kill what it can get to. The insecticide dissaptes in a few hours but I would still rinse off the dishes in case the roaches were running across them. The flushing effect in the fogger can chase roaches to other parts of the house spreading the problem.   Use Combat gel that comes in the large syringe... it is something the roaches seek out and feed on, then carry the toxin back to the crevices where the babies may be hiding.  You won't see the initial kill the foggers create but it is a more thorough kill cleaning out the roaches.  Using the profession products that are the same people who make Combat, I have totaly cleaned out commercial buildings that had no business being open due to roach infestation, using bait only.

  2. They work. But they also drive the roaches to the neighbors and after a while they'll be back.

Cover your stuff with plastic drop cloths.

Shut off the refrigerator and set the thermostat to off. You don't want anything that will cause a spark.

  3. the foggers DONT work i had a problem with roaches in an apartment i moved into so i freaked out and did ALOT of research just a warning what im gonna tell you is kinda gross... ok the foggers kill the roaches yes but..roaches are cannibals and feed on other dead roaches and they feed on roach "droppings" so frogging them will kills the roaches you have and leave a feast for all other roaches around to come and eat resulting in even more roaches ...... gross huh! they also lay eggs in numbers of 20-40 each time and their mating season is 40days long......so thats alot of roach babies.......yuck!

so how do you avoid this?..... chase them away make someone elses house a better place for them to eat....there are these trees called Osage orange trees roaches cant stand the smell of their fruits so you place a few of the pretty fruits around the house as long as they are green they are keeping the bugs away this last about 2 months per fruit (longer then roach mating seasons last). in doing my research on the fruits not one person said they didnt work the only complaints were some people didnt like the smell (kinda cedar and orange) everyone who has tried them swears by them and so do I

beware that only the female trees produce the fruit but you can aslo buy just the fruits online at hedgeapple.com i buy extras and freeze them so i can use them all year long.

  4. VERY important to put all you food (except what's in the fridge) in double heavy plastic bags!! These super foggers work because they infiltrate to inside the cabinets and get all over everything. Also bag up all the toilet paper, paper towels, cloth towels and sheets, and facial tissue in the house. You don't want to get poison on them, either.

When you've used the roach bombs and it's safe to come back home, thoroughly wash all table, desk, counter, bathroom, and kitchen surfaces. The same poison that kills the roaches is on there and not healthy for you. I would wash any bedding and all cookware and dishes or bag it up before I leave, too.

Getting rid of roaches can be a nightmare. Good luck!! : /
