Using a half-numnah?

Are you able to use a half numnah just by itself, or will I have to buy a full numnah to prevent rubbing? I have seen some people at shows using a half numnah and nothing else and I wanted to find out if this was alright...?

Your help would be appreciated! =]

  1. I am guessing that is another word for a pad. Yes you can use a half numnah (I know them as a half pad) on its own without any ill-effects to your horse. The horse sweat can damage your saddle though

  2. Yes you can use a half numnah by itself. Katie is right by saying that the sweat will damage your saddle over time, you just need to clean the sweat flaps more frequently to prevent this.   I  use a 1/2 numnah a show or competition,  it is small so it doesn't bulk up the look of the saddle area.   A 1/2 numnah is more of a show ring kind of thing but if it is what you like then use it regularly, just be prepared to clean the sweat flaps of you saddle more often.
