So I just moved into a new apartment, and I seem to have access to someone's wireless internet network without needing a password. Is there anything dangerous about doing this?

  1. not for you, only the neighbor

  2. haha..i do that alot also, just make sure u have 100% updated virus/internet protection like norton cause its an open connection and anybody can hack into that connection and get ur neighbors info as well as yours

  3. no there is no danger in it the only thing is that you should ask for permision to do this

  4. Two things:  First, it's illegal and unneighborly, like tapping into their electric meter.  Second, using someone else's network opens your machine to any malware on that network.

Sorry, but I don't advise it.

  5. Well any information that you send over the internet (whether it be passwords, IMs, bank information, etc.) has to go THROUGH that router. Anything that goes through the router can be intercepted. However, the average user would not know how to do this. And if they're a more advanced user, it's probably safe to say they'd have a password on their router. However, it still can be dangerous.
