Using a passport rather than Id?

Question

My 21st Birthday is comming up and I will not have my new unexpired ID yet. Can I use my passport which is not expired inplace of my regular ID?

So basically..

Can I buy alcohol with my passport rather than my ID?

hey there,. i dont have a driver's license or state ID yet and I show my passport around as a source of information. people still credit that -- it is the best form of ID.

I think you can. I teach international students and they don't have US ID's so they use their passports all the time! Happy Birthday!
