Using an old style razor: using it and sharpening it?

I have an antique long blade razor; I wonder if there is a web side showing how to use them; but then one needs to sharpen them: what do I use a sharpening block, anything else?

You might try a barber supply or beauty supply house and get a leather strop.  One side sharpens the blade, the other hones it to a fine edge.
