Question:

Using different essential oils?

Ok so I wanted to make lotion and use oils, but I don't know how they all work. I know some are good for oily skin, some for dry, some for itchy, and some help better with things than others do, etc. So my questions are...:

1. Which oils help relieve pain? (Like cramps, soreness, etc.)

2. What oils help what? Like which oils help with itchiness, pain, etc.? Is there a list somewhere that tells me what oils help what?

3. Are all oils safe to mix together?

4. How do I know what oils are safe with certain people? Say Rose is good for dry skin, but hurts sensitive skin? How do I know that?

If there's a website that says all these things please add the linK!

  1. Hi,

You have  a lot of questions, I'll try to answer it one by one.

    1. angelica, basil, cajuput, rosemary.

    3. yes, oils safe to mix together.

For no.2 and 4. find your answer here:

  2. To answer all these questions you either need an extensive book or you have to study the specific sites in internet:

You find out the essential oil of cloves cures toothaches and than you look for its allergenic properties f.e.

Here are some sites to start with:

    http://www.kitchendoctor.com/essentialoi...

    see links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ess...

The essential oils normally are not used pure, they have to be solved in fatty oils, an emulsion, a lotion or ethanol f.e. or to mix with a cream or ointment.

You have to look for the best solvent. It also depends on application, which one is the best choice.

To manufacture cosmetics and medicines needs a lot of study and experience and without good recipes it is impossible to obtain success.
