  1. If you have any skills in Excel, you can very quickly produce your own. The formula for calculating a handicap is here:

  2. =((D7-K7)*113/L7)*0.96

    d7 is score

    k7 is rating

    l7 is slope

  3. The formula for calculating handicap is semi-complicated. But remember, this will not be a legitimate handicap. You must join a golf club and keep your handicap with the club to have an official handicap.  Otherwise your scores arent available for peer review.

  4. Excel is one of my strongest office skills; and I once began putting together my own handicapping calculator.

    But then I got to thinking....what was my purpose?  And what is the purpose of official handicaps (e.g. SCGA handicap)?

    Well, MY purpose was basically just to determine my "average" score; and keep a graph showing my improvement, etc.  But, calculating an "average" in Excel is pretty simple and BASIC.

    Using the actual "handicapping" formula was more complicated, but in the end, I wouldn't be able to "officially" use it in any tournament or competition as it wouldn't be a "sanctioned" or "official" handicap, anyway!

    Plus, as it turns out...my "index" or handicap is about 2-3 strokes better than my averages...as it's meant to be.

    The purpose of an "official" handicap is first, determine the golfer's POTENTIAL best score and then assign it a value called an "index" (which converts into the "handicap" which varies from course to course; and secondly, to level the playing field when golfers compete (using the golfer's handicap), by adding or subracting strokes based on the "official" handicap.

    So, inevitably, I decided to pay the $40 and join a sanctioned golf club that allowed me to post scores to my state's (SCGA) handicap system; which in turn, not only calculates your index, but it's your "official" index/handicap recognized by the USGA.

    But you can use the formula that one of the other Answerer referred you to, if you still want to more accurately calculate your handicap!
