its a 50's nasa experiment in think. its using Explosion to propel the spaceship to space. It was cancelled because they intend to use nuclear explosion which is in its early stages in the 50's. But they did a small experiment and entirely successful.

i have seen that video before in discovery channel but can't seem to find it in the net. anyone knows about this one?

and also the name of the project

  1. It is called Project Orion.

The video you most likely mean is:

There is also a more true-to history extension for the space flight simulator Orbiter, which models this project.

  2. Milind,

It is VERY, VERY wrong to copy and paste the answer of other people and fradulently represent it as your own.  You have no integrity and are a poor excuse for a man.  You have been reported and if this continues, they will suspend you.  You have been warned!

  3. Do you have a question?

  4. if i remember correctly it was scraped because it just wasn't really feasible.... there are a few things they had to over-come.... mostly would be the constant reloading and firing in an exact precision (if it wasn't, the ship would lose all control and just crash back down to earth, unable to regain it's escape velocity), the next was simply just building a ship to withstand not one, but multiple massive explosions, without losing it's airtight seal....

both of which would be a phenomenal feat for us to accomplish in and of its self... let alone getting it into space.
