Using itunes gift cards?

i got an itunes gift card for my birthday, so i put the code and stuff into itunes so i could use it. so far i've used half of the money on it on songs from itunes, but haven't bought anything with it for about a month. i tried to buy a game today and for some reason it won't use the money from the gift card even though on the top right corner it says i still have 9.50 left.

how can i make sure itunes detects this money and lets me pay with it?

which game? is it from the app store if then it is u won't be able to download the game from app store because the app are non-giftcards byable because when a app is purchased the money goes to the artist or author when buyed a movie, music etc it goes to apple

click on your account name and it will update the exact price, this should help
