Question:

Using lysol on Play mat for baby?

I had a play mat from my first son, but it has been stored in our dirty garage for 3 years, so i cleaned it today. I wiped it down with some vinegar, but just felt like that wasn't clean enough, so i sprayed it with lots of lysol. Now i am wondering if i shouldn't have done that. Is lysol ok for material like it is for hard surfaces? I am letting it air out and won't let baby play on it for at least a day. Just wasn't sure if maybe since it was material it would cling to the fabric per say. Thanks

  1. wait a day or two to lay him on it.

  2. I think I would have gone with a mild detergent and water, but done is done.  Rinse it off, let it air out thoroughly in the sunshine, and I'm sure it will be fine.

  3. It's probably fine. Just give it a rinse before you put your baby on it incase his skin reacts to being in direct contact with the Lysol and then dry it.

  4. If they suggest spraying Lysol on household surfaces to disinfect, then those surfaces would be just as bad for baby.  I think give it a day to air out and them it should be fine.

  5. I use lysol on everything for the kids around here. I use it on pillows and nap areas also which are not hard surfaces. I dont have a playmat but I would assume that it should be fine as long as it airs out a little before you place your baby on it.

  6. I wouldn't spray it with it again, but I'm sure it's fine. I would just rinse it off with some water and let it air dry

  7. I wouldn't use the spray.  Next time use the Lysol wipes  :)
